UNIX vs. WindowsNT

UNIX and NT. Which one is right for me?

The difference really lies in your needs. First, check out the features each of our account types has to offer. We offer both platforms because different features and development tools are available on each. If you do not plan on doing extensive programming, you do not need to be concerned about platform. Just pick from our list of accounts based on the price/features you are interested in.

Otherwise the main differences are in the tool set supported on each platform. Of course, Windows type tools are only available on the NT Account which runs a fairly comprehensive set of Microsoft tools (FrontPage, MS SQL Server, IIS with ASP), while on the UNIX side we have Netscape 3.01 Enterprise Server, LiveWire, SQL databases, C, Perl and many other tools. Some applications, such as Cold Fusion are available on both platforms. And it is also possible to design "hybrid" accounts spanning UNIX and NT. That gives you the best of both worlds!

We Also Offer Quality Collocation

We maintain a high redundancy, high throughput, carefully monitored connection to the Internet via a pair of T3 lines, one from BBN/GTE and the other through UUNET. This connection is high commercial grade quality and as good as or better than the connection offered by many of the large national service providers (not surprisingly since we are not dependent on a single network.)

Collocating your Web hosting equipment with us allows you complete control of your own environment while benefiting from our line, backups, and monitoring, as well as any other support you choose to use. We would be pleased to give you a quote on configuring your server and a customized collocation package.
