The
Details
What's
the Difference?
Superior hosting means providing more than just
fast servers and a high "uptime" rate.
Let's face it. There are many of hosting
companies out there and on the surface they all
offer the same types of hosting for basically
the same prices. So you have to ask yourself:
"what's the difference between one hosting
service and another"?
Looking
Toward the Future
The answer is in the details. For starters, just
visit our Unix
Account
and NT
Account
descriptions. You'll be surprised at
all the features we offer. Fusion Source Hosting
constantly updates and upgrades the most
important web technologies. From shopping carts
for electronic commerce to sophisticated
multi-media and database applications, we give
our customers the power to take advantage of
today's technological revolution.
As
programmers and site creators we provide the
same tools for our customers as we use
ourselves: multiple SQL databases; multiple
dynamic site "scripting" tools such as
Cold Fusion, Live Wire, ASP, and Perl; multiple
Web server softwares including Netscape, IIS,
and Apache; streaming multimedia tools such as
Real Audio and Video; real time commerce enabled
tools; and many other applications and programs
to help you build a site that does more than
"come up fast".
Keeping
Customers in Control
Superior hosting really starts and ends with
superior support. At Fusion Source Hosting we're
there when you need us even if it's late into
the night. In our case "servicing what we
sell" means that the person you speak to
when you sign up is quite often the same person
you call for support. And if you think about it,
that means we answer the phone as readily for a
support question as for a sales question. Not
many of our competitors can say the same.
The
"Basics"
Redundant
T3 connection - a T3 is a 45
Megabit-per-second connection to the Internet.
We have 2 of these (through BBN/GTE and UUNET).
This means that we have no network delays or
bottlenecks between our servers and the 'Net (we
use less than 30% of the capacity of these lines
even at peak). It also means redundancy - if one
of these major carriers experiences a problem,
packets are automatically re-routed. Finally, we
have implemented "shortest path
routing" which means that packets are
routed to the carrier with the fewest number of
"hops" to whoever is browsing your
pages.
High
Quality Servers - for our UNIX Servers we
use high speed Sun network servers with 2 or
more processors. Our NT servers run on quality
Intel machines. We regularly monitor the load on
all machines and add new ones as required.
24
Hour Monitoring - we use robot software to
test our servers and services once a minute.
"Services" means that we test not only
the machine, but the services it runs, such as
the Web server, FTP server, mail server, etc.
When a machine or service becomes unavailable,
we are "beeped" automatically, 24
hours a day.
Security
and Backup - all our accounts come with
secure (https) encrypted server space. This
means you can do secure commerce from your site.
Our system security is guarded through "one
time" password systems and applying the
latest security patches. Finally, we do weekly
backups and monthly off-site backups.
